Realising that
there was a real demand for cars in the area Alan, with Ted Wettern as partner,
started buying and selling from home. The business grew and Alan purchased land
in Faithful St, Wangarattta, to develop into his used car yard.
An arrangement
with Clive Schielbs (West City Autos) allowed Alan to sell Chrysler, and to have
them serviced at West City Autos, thereby avoiding the need to open a workshop.
In 1960 General
Motors approached Alan to become a Holden Dealer, and eventually he accepted.
The business required a new site and the present premises at 23-49 Tone Rd, were
designed and built ready for use in 1969.
